Goodwell Property Management Limited (Goodwell) is dedicated to promoting the concept of “Energy Saving, Waste Less and Low Carbon” in its managed properties to save operational cost, as well as creating green living and business environment for occupants. This year, Fortune City One, one of Goodwell’s managed properties locating in Shatin, was honored to receive Green Management Award – Service Provider (SME) – Bronze and a Special Award of Sustained Performance (3 years+) in the Hong Kong Green Awards 2018 presented by the Green Council in recognition of its remarkable achievements in green management.

The daily operation of shopping malls involves tremendous consumption. In order to achieve optimal green management objective, efficient use of resources, reduction and recycling measures as well as promotion of environmental protection initiatives have been adopted. The management team of Fortune City One introduced a “Roof Tank Revitalization Project” by connecting unoccupied roof tanks with water pipes to collect rainwater to the remoted planters for irrigation. The project has successfully enlarged the automatic irrigation area which helps simplify daily gardening work and foster water conservation culture among staff.

Besides, Fortune City One enthusiastically supported the concept of “Green Living Cycle” by collaborating closely with different organisations, contractors, tenants, customers and community groups in achieving green partnership. To cultivate recycling habit among tenants, the management team organized recycling activities at the shopping mall to collect recyclables from tenants, such as daily disposals, festive gadgets and plants as well as coffee grounds from tenants for conversion of concentrated fertilizers. Besides, by jointly cooperating with World Green Organisation, tenants were invited to participate in the Pilot Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Charging Scheme. The management team also supported and offered venue to green groups for organising educational and publicity programmes to further promote the notion of green living to the community.

Hong Kong Green Awards 2018 was first organised and staged by the Green Council in 2010 with the goal of formally identifying and recognizing local companies with exceptional performance on green purchasing and/or green management. It encourages improvements on application of conservative measures in business operation in order to promote Hong Kong as a green city with sustainability.
