Goodwell Property Management Limited (Goodwell), a member of CK Asset Holdings Limited, is dedicated to adopting eco-friendly measures in minimizing light nuisance and saving energy in order to provide a quality living environment for occupants. To help overcome climate change, Goodwell has been signing up the Charter on External Lighting organized by the Environment Bureau for 3 consecutive years. This year, around 30 nos. of Goodwell’s managed properties were awarded the Platinum and Gold Award in recognition of its effort in switching off the unnecessary external lighting at preset time.
With the high building density in Hong Kong, over-illumination of external lighting at night will cause nuisance to occupants’ daily lives in long term. Goodwell has set up an environmental management committee for monitoring and addressing the external lighting issues by installing energy saving lightings and shortening the operation time of external lighting at night, etc. Besides, Goodwell and its managed properties have actively participated in large scale energy saving campaigns such as Earth Hour and Charter on External Lighting for uplifting and fostering the green management culture across the company, as well as reducing the operational expenditure.
The Environment Bureau launched the Charter on External Lighting in April 2016 to invite owners of and responsible persons for external lighting installations to switch off lighting installations with decorative, promotional or advertising purposes that affect the outdoor environment during preset time.
