Trees are one of the crucial resources on the earth; meanwhile, there are a growing number of garden wastes in Hong Kong. It is reported that around 127 tonnes of green waste is disposed in the landfill every day, especially after the festive season such as Christmas and Lunar New Year.

To reduce the wastage of woody materials and re-generate them into organic fertilizer, Goodwell Property Management Limited (Goodwell) has participated the “Christmas and Peach Tree Recycling Campaign”, organized by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Association (HKEPA), for the 3 consecutive years. This year, 26 of the Goodwell’s managed properties, a record-high number throughout the years, were awarded with the certificate in recognition of our effort. The details are as follows:

Through the collaboration with HKEPA, Goodwell collected the green waste and delivered to the HKEPA recycling centre, which finally transforming into organic fertilizer for organic planting in education institutions. In the long run, the recycling campaign facilitates the re-use of wood materials and relieves the pressure of landfill disposal, resulting to a more sustainable environment.
